The ceremony of laying flowers to the bust of the famous Belarusian poet and public figure Yakub Kolas was held in Tashkent.
It was attended by well-known state and public figures, representatives of science, art, culture, youth, employees of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Uzbekistan, members of the Belarusian cultural center "Svitanak" in the city of Tashkent.
Yakub Kolas, who was successful in poetry, prose, drama, literary studies, artistic journalism, is one of the brightest representatives of the Belarusian literature.
Uzbekistan has a special place in life of Yakub Kolas. In 1941 he arrived in Tashkent as a member of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus and lived with his family in this city for more than two years. At this time, he established close creative cooperation with representatives of Uzbek literature, including Gafur Gulam, Hamid Alimjan, Maksud Sheikhzade.
In Tashkent, he created his poems "To my dearest", "On the axis of Rome – Berlin", "To defenders of the native land", "To people-fighters", "Voice of the Earth", stories "Meeting with the enemy", "Nurse Tanya", "On the scout".
Currently, there is a great interest in the work of Yakub Kolas in Uzbekistan. His works are regularly published in literary publications of the country. The writer's bust is erected in the center of the capital, in a shady square at the crossroads of Shakhrisabz and Taras Shevchenko streets. All this shows deep respect for his personality and creativity.
