On August 15, a meeting with the delegation led by Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for South and Central Asian Affairs Mark Linscott was held at the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the meeting it was emphasized that Uzbekistan is achieving a number of success in protecting the right to intellectual property and elimination of forced labor. It was noted that the U.S. side is ready to support Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization.
Mark Linscott emphasized that under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev Uzbekistan entered a new stage of its development, which opened a new page in cooperation and mutually beneficial partnership of the two countries.
The guests also met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister of Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov. At the meeting, the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, issues of further strengthening interaction were discussed.
Members of the delegation highly appreciated the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, in particular the ongoing work on economic liberalization and attraction of foreign investments. This is facilitated by the observed activity in the economic sector of the country, holding various forums aimed at attracting foreign capital.
At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of preparation for the upcoming Central Asian Trade Forum and Uzbekistan – American business forum in Uzbekistan.
On the same day, the U.S. delegation held negotiations at the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations and the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
