Strong cooperation is the basis of stability

The Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan organized a round table in connection with the adoption of the UN General Assembly Resolution “Strengthening regional and international cooperation to ensure peace, stability and sustainable development in the Central Asian region”, in Tashkent.

It was attended by senators, deputies, representatives of relevant ministries, diplomatic missions of foreign countries, and experts.

It was noted that this resolution will create the basis for strengthening cooperation, constructive and good-neighborly relations between the Central Asian states, radical change in political situation in the region.

It should be noted that this initiative was forwarded by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.
 
According to experts, the draft of this historical document was developed by Uzbekistan jointly with Central Asian countries. When developing it, the interests of each state were taken into account. At the same time, 55 countries became the co-authors of the resolution.
 
The resolution covers all initiatives of the Central Asian countries aimed at ensuring sustainable development and security in the region. The document outlines the common positions of the five Central Asian states on the main problems of the region, attention is paid to such global issues as ecology, rational use of water resources, transport communications, the fight against terrorism and religious extremism. The resolution also includes the issue of settlement of the situation in Afghanistan.
