Meeting at the MFA

On June 27, 2018, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with prominent American public figure and scientist, Chairman of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute and a Research Professor at Johns Hopkins University Frederick Starr, who is in Uzbekistan with a group of authoritative international researchers. 

During the conversation, actual aspects of Uzbekistan – American relations were discussed. 

In this context, the results of the first official visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United States on May 15-17, 2018 and his talks with President Donald Trump were highly appreciated, their historical significance for further development of cooperation between the two countries was noted. 

Frederick Starr, whose book Uzbekistan’s New Face was first introduced to the expert community and public in early May during a briefing at the Atlantic Council in Washington, emphasized the direct relationship between the dynamic and long-term development of Uzbekistan and Central Asia in general. 

The American researcher welcomed the unanimous adoption on June 22, by the UN General Assembly of the resolution "Strengthening regional and international cooperation to ensure peace, stability and sustainable development in the Central Asian region", initiated by Uzbekistan, which is another evidence of the support of the world community for the efforts of the countries of the region on jointly solving common problems, ensuring prosperity and well-being of the multimillion population. 

At the meeting, views were exchanged on other issues on international and regional agenda.
