World Fencing Championship among juniors and cadets started in the capital.

This is a prestigious competition organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Olympic Committee and the fencing Federation of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the International Fencing Federation.

Fencing Federation of Uzbekistan carried out consistent work on holding of the world championship at a high organizational level, to ensure compliance of sports complexes with international standards.

The opening ceremony of the World Fencing Championship among juniors and cadets took place at the Uzbekistan sports complex on April 1.

The participants of the World championship entered the arena under the music signs.

The State Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan played.

Opening the event, speakers noted that a special attention under the leadership of President Islam Karimov is paid to the education of physically and spiritually mature younger generation, to the development of sports, which is an important factor to further enhance the credibility of our country in the international arena.

In our country, about eight hundred athletes regularly engaged in fencing. 50 of them are the members of the national team of the country.

Athletes from more than 100 countries compete at the World Fencing Championships. Along with such experienced athletes like Fayzullo Alimov, Sanjar Sobirov, Sanjar Olimov, Malika Hakimova, talented young fencers also will protect the honour of our country.
