A videoconference was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Samarkand.

The Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, khokims of the regions and the city of Tashkent presented reports on activities carried out in the system of defense in the regions. 

The President of our country drew particular attention to issues of further improving activities of military educational institutions, strengthening their material and technical base, radically improving the system of training youth for admission to higher military schools. 

We must train highly educated, comprehensively mature military specialists, beginning with the lower level, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. For this purpose, activities of 29 academic lyceums will be established. These lyceums must radically differ from other lyceums. It is necessary to educate students of these educational institutions as physically strong, intellectually developed personalities with a broad worldview. We will not spare funds for this sphere. Who does not want to maintain his army, will maintain someone else’s. 

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions to officials on revising the procedure of celebrating the Day of Defenders of the Motherland, developing a system of its wide celebration as a national holiday.
