The Tashkent Regional stage of the republican Spartakiad has been held in the town of Olmaliq on the slogan of “Sport is a guarantee of health”. 

At an event held on this occasion, it was said that special attention being paid to creating modern conditions for regularly training in sports, raising the popularity of sports and physical training in this country and to ensuring a healthy lifestyle was giving great results. 

The Spartakiad was arranged by the Tashkent Regional Trade Unions Federation for the purpose of the wide attraction of workers of enterprises, organizations and establishments in the territory to sports and to their protection from illnesses through sport and a healthy lifestyle. More than 350 participants in the Spartakiad competed in 6 sports. 

“Spectators’ active support for participants in competitions in each of the sports helped to make them even more interesting. This sporting event serves to strengthen workers’ health, raise their productivity and to further popularize sports in the territories,” says the chairman of the regional trade unions federation, Sh.Sobirov. 

In table tennis, badminton, swimming, chess and checkers competitions among men the winners are Jahon Abdurazzoqov, Sergey Muminov, Aleksey Varavin, Nusrat Jumayev and Rahmatjon Toshmatov, and in these competitions among women the winners are Irina Shoahmedova, Elvira Yusupova, Feruza Deniteva, Shahnoza Isroilova, Svetlana Murashkevich. 

In the final of a volleyball tournament held among women, Olmaliq town’s team defeated Bekobod’s team and took first place. 

During the sporting event, winners were also determined in such nominations as “the most senior participant”, “the best amateur sportsman”, “for will to achieve a victory” and “the youngest participant”.
