Meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund

On November 14 this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov met with the head of the International Monetary Fund Mission in Uzbekistan Ron van Rooden.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Timur Ishmetov, Chairman of the Central Bank Mamarizo Nurmuratov, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilkhom Norkulov, Deputy Minister of Finance Ahadbek Khaydarov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Behzod Khamroev, and on behalf of the guests, the Head of the IMF Office in Uzbekistan Kevin Ross and IMF economists Christine Richmond and Sarvar Akhmedov.

During the meeting, the issues of continuing the ongoing process of systemic reforms in the country, ensuring macroeconomic stability, privatization of SOEs and SOBs, development of public-private partnership projects, privatization of non-agricultural land, development of the agricultural products market, ensuring food security, fiscal, monetary policy and budget were discussed.

Also at the meeting, the parties exchanged views on cooperation with the International Monetary Fund in the field of sustainable economic growth, market liberalization, transformation processes of SOEs, ensuring energy stability, creating a favorable business environment, supporting family businesses, developing the textile industry, and reducing the shadow economy.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to further expand relations and develop cooperation on the above issues.
