On February 24 of this year, the 5th annual Open Data Inventory (ODIN) report was released. This report is a snapshot of the global open data progress and analysis of ODIN 2020/21 results, which were published in early December 2020.

ODIN is the only global indicator of openness in national statistics covering 187 countries in the latest edition. This index is now used by many countries as a benchmark for their progress in discovering statistics in their country.

The event, “Open Data for National Statistics: Progress and Future Plans”, aimed to showcase the results of the latest ODIN 2020/21 report, including comments on the state of open data in official statistics. More than 100 participants from different countries participated in online international conference.

There was also a panel discussion of five speakers from various NSOs, each of whom will share their experiences of implementing successful strategies for improving open data and impressive progress in ODIN, as well as the challenges they faced and future projects.

The National Statistical Office is a service responsible for collecting and processing statistical information on the economic and demographic situation at the national or regional level.

  The speakers ' presentations focused on what worked and where problems and barriers remain, as well as recommendations for other NSOs seeking to achieve similar successes.

  Recall that Uzbekistan, according to the Open Data Inventory (ODIN) rating, scored 63 points and took 44th place in the world and 1st place in Central Asia, and also rose by 125 positions.
