Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan meets with Afghanistan’s President

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov has met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani, in Kabul, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade reports.

At the meeting, a wide range of issues of political-diplomatic, trade-economic, investment, industrial, regional and cultural-humanitarian cooperation were discussed.
 
The high level of trusting relations between the two countries, as well as the open and constructive nature of bilateral interaction at various levels was noted. The parties also reaffirmed their commitment to continue the negotiation process in Doha (Qatar). Having positively assessed the dynamics of cooperation in priority areas, the parties came to a common opinion about the prospects of working out new areas of mutually beneficial partnership to reach specific agreements.
 
The parties indicated mutual readiness for practical cooperation aimed at developing the regions of Central and South Asia through the implementation of joint projects in investment, trade, energy, transport and infrastructure development. In this context, Ashraf Ghani supported the initiative to establish cooperation with international financial institutions, in particular with the United States International Development Finance Corporation, as well as the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, in order to attract additional sources of financing for the implementation of promising projects in development of transport corridors.
 
Following the meeting, an agreement was also reached to establish direct cooperation between the relevant ministries and agencies of the two countries in order to develop a roadmap for enhancing collaboration in political, trade, economic, financial, energy, transport, logistics, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
