A working meeting with the head of the UNIDO Regional Division for Europe and Central Asia

On the October 5th of 2020, a working meeting was held in the format of video conferencing with the head of the UNIDO Regional Division for Europe and Central Asia - Mr. Jacek Cukrowski.
The agenda included issues of further joint cooperation between the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations on Industrial Development (UNIDO), in particular:
a draft joint declaration of cooperation with UNIDO;
the draft "Road Map" for the further development of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and UNIDO for 2020-2024;
further work on entering the UNIDO Competitive industrial performance index and further work to improve the position of the Republic in this rating;
assistance to the Organization in expert assessment of the Concept for the Development of Industry of Uzbekistan until 2030.
The working meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bobur Kalandarovich Abdinazarov, Head of the UNIDO Regional Coordination Unit for Europe and Central Asia, Mr. Jacek Cukrowski, as well as specialists and experts of both sides.
Specialists and experts exchanged views on the future long-term and a sustainable partnership between UNIDO and the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The participants of the working meeting also discussed organizational issues, in particular, the issue of signing a joint Declaration in November 2020 was considered.
As a result of the working meeting, it was decided to continue joint work and participation of specialists, as well as technical assistance to UNIDO in analyzing the development of industry in the Republic of Uzbekistan and jointly developing a Strategy based on the international guidelines of UNIDO, which will undoubtedly allow achieving high results in an inclusive and sustainable industrialization in the long term.

Mr. Jacek Cukrowski holds an MSc in Systems Engineering, a Doctor of Computer Science and a PhD in Economics.
Prior to joining the Europe and Central Asia Division, he directed the UNIDO Capacity Development Institute. Previously, he worked for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as Millennium Development Goals Adviser and Team Leader at the Regional Center for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Previously he worked at the Center for Social and Economic Research (CASE) in Poland and at the Economic Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
Mr. Zukrowski has extensive experience in consulting and technical cooperation projects in most of the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He is a co-author of the UNDP Central Asia Human Development Report: “Removing Barriers: Regional Cooperation for Human Development and Human Security”.
