On July 13, 2020, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov held talks with OIC Assistant Secretary General for Science and Technology Askar Musinov, via videoconference, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The state and prospects of further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and OIC in science, technology and innovation were discussed during the conversation.
Askar Musinov noted the importance and timeliness of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's initiatives to achieve scientific and technological progress in the Islamic world and assured readiness of the OIC to provide practical assistance in their implementation.
The parties considered proposals for holding an OIC conference on science and technology, organizing virtual meetings between relevant agencies in the context of coronavirus pandemic and allocating educational grants for studying at prestigious universities in the OIC countries.
The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
