Shavkat Mirziyoyev: No one in our country should be left without attention and care of the state and society

2020-04-11 | Politics

On April 10, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the beginning of a videoconference on discussing current issues of increasing the efficiency and productivity of the cluster system in cotton and grain growing, highlighted the measures taken to combat the coronavirus pandemic. The Head of the state stated in particular:

– First of all, I would like to note that the current situation with the rapid spread of coronavirus in many countries of the world proves that we in Uzbekistan promptly introduced quarantine and restrictive measures.

I express my deep gratitude to all our citizens who correctly understand and share this, patiently observe the rules of self-isolation and quarantine, as well as to doctors who courageously and steadfastly fulfill their duty.

It should be openly recognized: if quarantine and restrictive measures had not been introduced in time, taking into account the mentality and lifestyle of our people, including very extensive social ties, covering trips to work, attending classes, various ceremonies, going to the market, frequent visits of relatives, neighbors, friends and especially the ill – the diseased and human losses could be much higher.

For almost a month, we slowed down the spread of infection and effectively took advantage of this time to increase the number of treatment places, study and introduce the medical experience of foreign countries.

We purchased 500 mechanical ventilation devices from Russia. The first batch will be delivered in the coming days. Test systems – 200 thousand from China and 50 thousand from Germany have been also purchased.

In tackling the pandemic, we are working closely with the international community.

An extraordinary summit meeting of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States on this issue was held today via videoconference.

The summit was attended by the heads of state and government of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Hungary, the Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

We agreed on formation of a joint system of epidemiological surveillance within the framework of the Turkic Council, the exchange of information and experience in diagnostics, treatment and suggested setting up these activities.

I would like to emphasize that all the heads of delegations noted the need for new mechanisms and formats in a pandemic for development of cooperation, especially in trade, economic, investment, financial and transport sectors.

We agreed to maintain the volume of trade between the states of the Turkic Council at the pre-crisis level, to provide mutual assistance in stimulating investments and implementing priority projects, to effectively use the transport infrastructure and reduce freight rates, in general, to ensure unhindered movement of goods with priority products for our countries.

We will use all our strengths and capabilities to combat this challenge, whether inside the country or outside its borders.

Not a single person, not a single family in our country should be left without attention and care of the state and society.

Therefore, the leaders of 6 sectors at places, all responsible persons and ministers must work tirelessly!
The danger has not yet passed. Great challenges await us.

Activity should continue around the clock, with iron discipline and a sense of responsibility!
