On March 18, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Leaders of the two countries considered issues of strengthening Uzbekistan –Turkmenistan friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership, as well as expanding multifaceted cooperation, primarily in trade, economic, energy, transport and communication spheres.
Views were exchanged on pressing issues of regional cooperation in Central Asia and international politics.
Particular attention was paid to the importance of effective interaction at the government level in order to ensure effective control over the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and prevent its negative impact on bilateral relations.
Presidents congratulated each other and fraternal people of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan on the upcoming holiday of spring, prosperity and renewal – Navruz.
It was emphasized that for many centuries this bright holiday has traditionally been an integral part of the spiritual life of people of the two countries, which are inextricably linked by strong friendship, common history and culture, similarity of languages, traditions and customs.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sincerely wished the multinational people of Uzbekistan peace, kindness and prosperity. It was emphasized that in this difficult period, Turkmenistan is ready to provide all-round assistance and together overcome new challenges.
