On February 28, 2020, Uzbekistan delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov arrived in Doha on a working visit and met with the head of Taliban Movement’s political office in Qatar Mullah Barodar Akhund
According to Uzbekistan MFA, issues related to the promotion of the peaceful political process in Afghanistan with a view to establishing a sustainable and long-term peace in the country were discussed at the meeting.
Mullah Barodar expressed sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his constant attention to problems of Afghanistan. He acknowledged that thanks to the efforts of Uzbekistan, the Afghan conflict is again in the spotlight of the international community.
The head of Taliban Movement’s political office emphasized that Uzbekistan has always been and remains the most reliable friend of the Afghan people, despite the difficult ups and downs of history, which is especially clearly manifested in the present time, when Afghanistan more than ever needs peace and economic assistance.
Mullah Barodar noted the efforts of Uzbekistan on launching a peaceful political process in Afghanistan, the implementation of various economic projects in the country, the main purpose of which is the welfare and progress of the Afghan people, the prosperity of Afghanistan as a peaceful and stable state.
