Meeting with Indian Minister of External Affairs

On January 14, 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who arrived in New Delhi on a working visit, met with the Minister of External Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan expressed appreciation for the invitation to the fifth international conference Raisina Dialogue, which is held under the auspices of the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
The state and prospects of Uzbekistan – India cooperation, which is based on important agreements between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were discussed at the meeting.
The ministers considered proposals on the schedule of upcoming contacts in 2020 at the highest and other levels, the timing of joint events.
It was emphasized that Uzbekistan and India attach priority importance to enhancing cooperation in the economic sphere.
Special attention was paid to Afghan issues. The interest of Uzbekistan and India in speedy stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan was confirmed, which will open up wide opportunities for intensifying and expanding cooperation in the region. The achievement of these goals will also be facilitated by the regular holding of meetings of the Dialogue “India – Central Asia” at the level of foreign ministers with participation of Afghanistan, which was launched in January 2019 in Samarkand.
Prospects for strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, especially in education and science were also discussed at the meeting.
