Uzbekistan, the United States exchange experience in religion and the rule of law

Uzbekistan – American scientific and practical workshop on “Religion and the Rule of Law” kicked off in Tashkent on November 4.
At the workshop, religious scholars, experts from the two countries are exchanging experience on such issues as development of inter-confessional relations, the struggle against interethnic conflicts, and development of an atmosphere of generosity in society.
First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan S.Safoyev, First Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.Nematov, Director of the National Human Rights Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.Saidov, President and CEO of the Institute for Global Engagement John Boyd addressed the event.
On the first day of the workshop, President Emeritus of the Institute for Global Engagement Chris Seiple and other experts in the field of religion and law made presentations. Participants got acquainted with GlocalNet program, which performs the task of an electronic platform in the U.S. for churches and many faiths.
The workshop, organized jointly with the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Human Rights Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Civil Society Development Center and the United States Institute for Global Engagement, will last until November 8.
