Intangible cultural heritage of Karakalpak people – the pottery, which they value as a rare profession, has been formed for many centuries. Carpet weaving, wood carving was also developed in Karakalpakstan. Representatives of these crafts lived on a certain territory in such ancient cities as Khojeyli, Turtkul, Shobboz, Chimbay. The streets on which artisans lived were named after these crafts: potters’ street, carpet weavers’ street, painters or wood carvers’ streets. The ancient monuments found as a result of archaeological research in the country indicate that these crafts belong to a long history.
