2019-09-11 | Economics

On September 10, Tashkent hosted Uzbekistan – China conference on “Experience of the People’s Republic of China in reforming the agriculture and the possibility of its implementation in the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

The conference was attended by members of parliament, experts from relevant ministries and agencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the delegation of the National People’s Congress of China.

Introduction of innovative technologies in the agricultural sector is another aspect that was emphasized during the conference. The innovative development of agriculture has been and remains one of the most important tasks of the economic policy of China. Successful reform of the agricultural sector and rural areas has turned China into a world leader in terms of production of the main types of agricultural products: fodder crops, livestock products, horticulture.

At the conference, the special importance of expanding cooperation between the two countries in order to increase the efficiency of water management was emphasized. It was noted that the problem of limited water resources is relevant for both China and the Central Asian region, in particular Uzbekistan. In this context, the conference participants were greatly interested in effective irrigation methods tested in Chinese practice.

A number of other issues, such as scientific innovation and green agricultural development, new innovative biotechnologies aimed at improving the efficiency of agricultural production, introduction of information technologies in the monitoring system of the agricultural sector of Uzbekistan were also discussed at the conference.

The necessity of further development of trade-economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and China, expansion of free trade zones, increasing the role of free economic zones in socio-economic development of the regions of Uzbekistan was noted.

On the same day, members of the delegation met with the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoyev.
