Uzbekistan – UAE: purposeful practical cooperation

Delegation led by the Minister of Energy and Industry of the United Arab Emirates Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei visits Uzbekistan.
On May 2, the delegation took part in Uzbekistan – Emirates Labor Forum, in Tashkent. The delegation includes representatives of a number of ministries and agencies of the United Arab Emirates, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, MASDAR and EMAAR Properties companies.
Issues of further strengthening labor cooperation were discussed. Views were exchanged on such current issues as organization of mutually beneficial activities in the sphere, creation of vocational training centers.
At the forum, a document was signed on cooperation between the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation of the UAE and private employment agencies.
Members of the delegation met with heads of several ministries and agencies of the country. Practical cooperation issues in energy, trade, economics, and investment were considered at the meetings.
In particular, at the meeting held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the parties forwarded a proposal to organize Uzbekistan – Emirates Business Council based on the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries. It is envisaged that the council will contribute to full support of initiatives and joint projects of businessmen of the two countries and foreign economic activities.
During the negotiations at the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, views were exchanged on the current state and prospects of economic and investment cooperation.
Currently, there are more than 100 enterprises in Uzbekistan with participation of UAE investments for the production of textiles, building materials, fruit packaging, printing, wholesale trade, catering, and services.
