The National General Education Electronic Library has been opened at the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman and President of the Export-Import Bank of Korea Sung-soo Eun, CEO, President & Director of LG CNS Co., Ltd. Young-Shub Kim, representatives of diplomatic corps in the country, senior officials of the Agency of Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It is expected that the National General Education Electronic Library (UZNEL) will become the first electronic library operating in the territory of the country. This project is implemented jointly with the Economic Development Cooperation Fund of the Republic of Korea.

At the first stage of the project of the National General Education Electronic Library, the National Library of Uzbekistan will be connected with 20 regional libraries, establishing a unified information exchange system. In the future, it is planned to cover 200 libraries of Uzbekistan.

Multimedia training rooms, video zones, special places for users with disabilities, a digitization center, and an audio and video studio are operating for the purposes of modern, high-quality and efficient customer service.

There are various scanning devices, equipment for cutting and gluing microfilm in the center of digitization. With the help of these devices, you can digitize and create an electronic version of not only the materials of the general electronic library, but also others. Through the e-book system, the electronic library can provide materials to users both inside the library building and remotely.
