On October 18, the First Interregional Cooperation Forum between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation kicked off at Uzexpocentre.
The Minister of Economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Botir Khojayev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Uzbekistan Vladimir Turdenev, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Sergey Levin addressed the opening ceremony of the event.
The forum began with a business meeting of heads of ministries and departments, business circles. Views were exchanged on the export potential of the regions of Uzbekistan, prospects for new economic zones of Uzbekistan, issues of improving legislation in the sphere of attracting foreign investment.
The event continued with panel sessions on “New stage of Uzbekistan – Russia interregional cooperation: projects and clusters”, “Digital transformation – new reality for Uzbekistan and Russia”, as well as a workshop on “Agro-industrial complex: points of growth for cooperation development”, Russia – Uzbekistan Business Council’s meeting.
A cooperation agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russia’s Clusters and Technoparks Association.
During the forum, participants had the opportunity to become closely familiar with the economic potential, opportunities and implemented projects of industry enterprises of Russia.
Bilateral agreements were signed on implementation of joint programs in the fields of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, ICT, healthcare, oil and gas, textile, chemical, agricultural, food, mining, and construction industries.
The First Interregional Cooperation Forum between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation will continue until October 20.
