Uzbekistan – Japan business forum

On July 31, Tashkent hosted a business forum of business circles of Uzbekistan and Japan.

The event was organized by the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Investments within the framework of the visit of Japan delegation led by Mamoru Sekiyama, co-chairman of the working group on foreign trade, investment and infrastructure of Japan – Uzbekistan Silk Road Fund to Uzbekistan. It was attended by the heads of ministries, agencies and companies of the two countries responsible for such spheres as foreign economic relations, trade, investments, oil and gas, energy, tourism, automotive industry, construction, geology, chemistry, light industry, textiles, production of electronic products, pharmaceuticals, information technology and telecommunications, small business and private entrepreneurship, healthcare.

The business forum was attended by the heads of more than 50 companies and private entrepreneurs from Japan, including heads of such large companies as Marubeni Corporation, Shimizu Corporation, Japan Tobacco, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Sakai Heavy Industries.

At the event, issues of investment cooperation between the two countries in the fuel and energy complex, development of environmentally friendly technologies, implementation of projects in the field of healthcare were discussed in detail.

Reports were heard on introduction of effective technologies in gas production with participation of Japanese experts, improvement of the road infrastructure, modern approaches to healthcare and provision of medical services, and international tourism. Issues of studying Japan’s experience in these areas were considered.

Representatives of relevant ministries, agencies and businesses of the two countries took part in the negotiations on joint implementation of promising directions in the sphere of industrial cooperation. An agreement was reached on organizing business visits, holding joint events on expanding cooperation in various fields, and relations between business representatives of the two countries.
