Tashkent – Saint Petersburg online teleconference on expanding cooperation in textile industry
On July 25, Tashkent hosted a videoconference, where experts from Saint Petersburg and Uzbekistan discussed cooperation in the sphere of supplying textile, clothing and knitwear products to the market of the Russian Federation.
The event was organized by the Center for Supporting Entrepreneurship and Farming of the Republic of Uzbekistan under the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, “Uztuqimachiliksanoat” (Uzbekistan Textile Industry) Association, Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg, and International Association of Integrative Cooperation.
The goal of the teleconference is to facilitate the establishment of direct business contacts between the entrepreneurs of the two countries and deepening cooperation between enterprises on production of textile, clothing and knitwear products, as well as intensification of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Saint Petersburg and Uzbekistan.
According to “Uztuqimachiliksanoat” Association, at the teleconference, the sides discussed the prospects for expanding the export of textile products from the regions of Uzbekistan to Saint Petersburg.
Representatives of “Uztuqimachiliksanoat” Association provided information on the current state of Uzbekistan – Russia cooperation. In particular, 8 enterprises of the industry are created in Uzbekistan with participation of Russian capital. The market of the Russian Federation is one of the main markets for textile products. Over 35 Trading Houses are created in three regions of Russia.
In 2016-2018, export of products to Russia amounted to over $1.0 billion. It should be noted that industry enterprises export all types of textile products to Russia.
Participants of the teleconference emphasized that this event is intended to promote the expansion and strengthening of traditionally close and mutually beneficial relations, especially trade-economic and investment cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan.
