On July 21, 2018, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov attended the meeting of the heads of ministries of foreign affairs of the Central Asian states in the city of Cholpon Ata (Kyrgyzstan).
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the event, views were exchanged on current issues of the regional agenda, as well as further development of mechanisms for multilateral cooperation in Central Asia.
Following the meeting, a Joint Statement was adopted.
The document underscores the importance of the forthcoming regular consultation meeting of the heads of the Central Asian states in the city of Tashkent in March 2019. In addition, the need was noted for further development of cooperation in the field of ensuring security, intensification of trade and economic ties between the countries of the region, expansion of transit and transport potential of Central Asia.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov invited the participants of the event to take part in the work of the Regional Economic Forum of Central Asian countries, which is scheduled for October this year.
The meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of the Central Asian countries has become a logical continuation of the efforts of all the states of the region on further expansion and deepening regional cooperation based on traditions of friendship, good-neighborliness, mutual understanding and trust.
