Uzbek-Turkmen Friendship House opens in Khorezm

At present, thousands of Turkmens live close to Uzbeks in the village of Goybu, in Urgench district of Khorezm region, in an atmosphere of friendship and harmony, in a single family. Uzbek-Turkmen Friendship House was built in a short time, based on traditions of modern and national architecture.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the opening ceremony of this building, built as a symbol of friendship between the two people, got familiar with conditions created here. The building has a library with more than two thousand books of Turkmen, Uzbek and world literature. At the same time, there is a museum that reflects the centuries-old friendship of two people, offices for various clubs on arts, an assembly hall for more than 200 seats.
Posters with the words of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev “Turkmenistan is our closest neighbor, tested by history and time, with which we are bound by centuries-old ties of friendship and cooperation. We will use all opportunities to show an example of what real friendship and good neighborly relations should be like” and with the words of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov “Relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan is a dialogue of the brotherly nations and good neighbors that value and respect each other. On the basis of this solid foundation, we will continue to develop and strengthen traditional friendship and fraternal ties between our people” are hung in the assembly hall. These theses will contribute to strengthening friendship between representatives of two people, especially the youth.
With participation of the heads of states, the opening ceremony of the bust of the great thinker and poet of Turkmen people Makhtumkuli Faraghi, erected in the courtyard of Uzbek-Turkmen Friendship House, was held.
Turkmens read Alisher Navoi’s ghazals with love, Uzbeks appreciate and like Makhtumkuli’s work as their poet.
In his poems, the famous poet glorified the brotherhood and friendship between the people of the two countries. Today traditions of friendship are raised to a new level.
Presidents laid flowers at the bust of Makhtumkuli. Then, Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived in “Ulli Hovli” memorial complex.
On the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, a major repair work was conducted in this building, belonging to the XVII century. At the same time, main attention was paid to preservation of its original appearance. The monument is protected by a defensive fortress, and occupies an area of about one hectare. This ensured safety of families living here. Also there are rare exhibits of the national culture of Turkmen people. Special attention in the complex is paid to development of tourism destinations – travel and pilgrimage. A hotel for 20 places has been built, Turkmen yurts have been installed.
Tourists here can get acquainted with the process of grinding grain at the mill, preparing national dishes, baking bread in tandyr.
