Uzbekistan – Bangladesh: prospects for economic cooperation

On April 10, a workshop on "Perspective directions of trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh" was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of relevant ministries and departments, companies operating in the fields of chemical, pharmaceutical industry, tourism and others took part in the event organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Embassy of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in Uzbekistan. 

First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Islam Jasimov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Shahriyar Alam and others noted that trade and economic, investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh, based on mutual trust and interest, is becoming stronger. It was emphasized that reforms carried out in Uzbekistan increased the investment attractiveness of the country, created favorable conditions for the broad attraction of foreign capital in order to modernize and diversify industrial enterprises. 

There are six enterprises with participation of Bangladeshi investments in Uzbekistan. Bangladesh entrepreneurs are conducting business in the fields of production of finished textile products, ferrous metallurgy, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, provision of services related to real estate in Uzbekistan. 

Tourism is one of the important areas of bilateral cooperation. The country is visited annually by many tourists from Bangladesh. Companies of this country are active participants of tourism fairs taking place in Tashkent. 

During the conversation, the participants were provided with detailed information on measures taken at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan on further development of tourism, increasing tourism potential through new directions. 

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan, Mosud Mannan highly appreciated the reforms that are being implemented in Uzbekistan on liberalization of the economy. 

Prospects of strengthening relations between business circles of Uzbekistan and Bangladesh were discussed at the event.
