The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, the Minister of Heritage and Culture of the Sultanate of Oman Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said and the Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs of this country Sheikh Abdallah bin Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Salmi participated at the event organized in this connection. They got acquainted with opportunities created at the institute, the museum, classrooms, manuscripts library and laboratory. 

Guests also became familiar with rare sources, books-lithographs, miniatures, calligraphy samples and collection of historical documents.

The building of the institute was constructed in accordance with the agreement, signed between the two states in 2009 during the visit of the First President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to the Sultanate of Oman, with participation of this country. 

The height of inner central atrium in the lobby of the three-storey building is 16 meters. Design of the central hall is inspired by eastern middle ages and heritage of famous figures, who lived in that era of well-known personalities – al-Khorezmi, Mirzo Ulugbek, Abu Raykhon Beruniy.

26 thousand manuscripts and 40 thousand lithographs stored at the Institute are a unique collection. 

New building hosted international scientific-practical conference on actual tasks and modern methods of studying written monuments. Reports of scientists from different countries about history, present and future of science were heard.
