President of the Republic of Uzbekistan received the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan

On March 1, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Bayram Annameredov, who is in our country within the framework of the regular meeting of the Joint intergovernmental Uzbek-Turkmen commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation.

Warmly welcoming the guest, the Head of the state noted with deep satisfaction the consistent development and strengthening of bilateral relations of centuries-old friendship, good-neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation. 

It was emphasized that the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan in March last year, as well as regular contacts between the leaders of the two countries, made it possible to bring Uzbek-Turkmen cooperation to the level of strategic partnership, filling it with a qualitatively new practical content. 

Particular attention was paid to prospects for full-scale cooperation in trade-economic, transport-communication, energy spheres, strengthening cooperation in various sectors of the economy. 

In 2017, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan amounted to $177 million. At the same time, mutual deliveries of products with high added value are growing. 

Operation of new Turkmenabad – Farab automobile and railway bridges, as well as discounts on railroad transit, provided on a mutual basis, contributed to the growth of freight traffic and increase of the transit potential of both countries. 

Relations between the border regions, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges have become more active. 

President of Uzbekistan highly appreciated activities of the Joint intergovernmental commission as an effective mechanism of ensuring timely implementation of reached agreements, as well as thorough preparation of the agenda of the upcoming summit. 

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan expressed deep gratitude to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome and conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. 

B.Annameredov confirmed readiness of the Turkmen side to further development of full-scale cooperation, strengthening friendship and strategic partnership between the two states.
