New Committee on the Issues of Public Health Protection has started to operate in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis

The President, in the Address to the Oliy Majlis of December 22, 2017, criticized services rendered to the population by healthcare institutions that do not meet the requirements of the time. It was noted that more attention in the Legislative Chamber should be paid to solving problems in this sphere. The need for creating a committee on health issues in the lower house of parliament, as well as organization of deputies’ – its members’ activities was emphasized.
At the first meeting of the Chamber that was held on January 4 this year, deputies considered the issue of establishing the Committee on the Issues of Public Health Protection of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, the need to improve effectiveness of reforms in healthcare system, in particular, in the sphere of providing primary medico-sanitary care was emphasized, current state of deputy, parliamentary and public control over the sphere and its results was considered. Importance of practical improvement of activities in this direction was noted.
Deputies discussed tasks facing the newly formed committee. In particular, its members will work directly at places, paying special attention to issues concerning citizens, preparing specific proposals aimed at bringing medicine closer to the population. It is important to use deputy, parliamentary and public control, pay special attention to its effectiveness, intensify the legislative process, study the execution of the legislation in the sphere.
Following the results of the meeting, a resolution on establishment of the Committee on the Issues of Public Health Protection of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis was adopted in accordance with proposals of political parties and the deputy group from the Ecological Movement, its composition was elected.
