Uzbekistan and Russia: 25 years of strategic partnership

On November 30, a historical documentary exhibition under this title has started at Uzexpocentre.
The solemn ceremony organized in connection with this was attended by members of parliaments, heads of ministries and departments of the two countries, scientists, representatives of the diplomatic corps, our compatriots and guests from Russia.
National anthems of the two countries have sounded.
The greeting of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the organizers and participants of the historical documentary exhibition was read by the State Advisor to the President H.Sultanov.
The greeting of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin was read by the Chief of the Presidential Directorate of the Russian Federation for Interregional Relations and Cultural Contacts with Foreign Countries V.Chernov.
25 years have passed since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation. In this regard, on March 20, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin exchanged greetings.
It was noted that over the past years, relations between Uzbekistan and Russia have been raised to the level of strategic partnership, significant results have been achieved in development of multifaceted and multilateral relations between the two countries.
The exhibition became a reflection of these results. Its exposition contains about 300 exhibits, divided into seven thematic blocks.
A separate block is dedicated to the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Russian Federation in April this year.
This visit brought relations between our countries to an even higher level. During the negotiations at the highest level, long-term prospects for the development of bilateral relations were determined. Intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents for a total amount of 16 billion dollars were signed.
One of the blocks on “Political dialogue” tells about the meetings of the initiator of diplomatic relations between the two states – the First President of our country Islam Karimov with the Presidents of Russia Boris Yeltsin, Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev, contains photographs depicting the signing of joint statements and agreements, copies of these documents.
A separate place at the exhibition is allocated to bilateral economic cooperation. One of the thematic blocks is devoted to military and military-technical cooperation. The block devoted to cultural and humanitarian cooperation tells about strong relations in this sphere.
The block on “Milestones of the common history” reflects the heroism of Uzbek soldiers during the Second World War, the life and work of the Russians evacuated to our country, the selfless work of our people in the rear, the restoration of Tashkent after the earthquake of 1966.
The “Modern Uzbekistan” block tells about the development of our country in the years of independence, its economic achievements and cultural wealth, tourism potential.
In accordance with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation of November 27 of this year, the people’s artist of Uzbekistan Galina Melnikova was awarded the order of “Friendship” (Russia). Within the framework of the exhibition, the Chief of the Presidential Directorate of the Russian Federation for Interregional Relations and Cultural Contacts with Foreign Countries V.Chernov solemnly presented this award to Galina Melnikova.
The exhibition will last a month.
