Delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church will visit Uzbekistan

Delegation of Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church led by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia will visit our country. 

This was reported by the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. 

The Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Law “On freedom of conscience and religious organizations” serve to ensure religious tolerance, peace and harmony in our country. Representatives of 16 confessions live in peace and harmony in Uzbekistan, they all work fruitfully in all spheres of society. They freely celebrate their religious holidays and ceremonies. 

In particular, all conditions are created for citizens of the Christian faith. There are 157 Christian organizations in our country. There are Orthodox and Protestant seminaries in Tashkent for training personnel. Citizens of not only Uzbekistan, but also other countries of Central Asia study at Tashkent Orthodox Seminary. Christians of our country make pilgrimage to the shrines of Russia, Israel, Greece and other countries. 

Tashkent diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates its 145th anniversary this year. In connection with this, the delegation of Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church will take part at a solemn event that will be held at Turkiston Palace in Tashkent. 

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia will hold meetings with the heads of the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan. He will also visit the Central Asian metropolitan district, monasteries and churches of the capital, meet with religious representatives. 

During the visit to Samarkand, members of the delegation will lay flowers at the final resting place of the First President of our country Islam Karimov, visit the complex of Khoja Doniyor, the Cathedral of St. Aleksey and other sights. Guests will also visit Bukhara and get acquainted with its historical monuments.
