On 15 October 2016, the VIII congress of the Adolat Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan took place.
The congress considered issues relating to the nomination of the Adolat Social Democratic Party’s candidate for President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and his pre-election programme.
It was said that in accordance with the effective legislation, the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan had adopted a decision to declare 4 December the day of this year’s elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
As a political force advocating the strengthening of the state’s independence, the further improving of the living conditions of the population, the raising of their wellbeing, and actively participating in reforms in the socio-economic, cultural-enlightenment and spiritual spheres, the Adolat Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (SDPU) intends to take a worthy part in the forthcoming elections.
In line with a decision of the VI plenum of the Political Council of the Adolat SDPU that took place on 17 September this year, there was comprehensive discussion of the issue of nominating the chairman of the Political Council and leader of the party’s faction in the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis (parliament), Nariman Majitovich Umarov as a candidate for President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Participants in the congress said in their speeches that N.Umarov has the necessary life experience, respected among the party’s members and is a worthy candidate for participation in the forthcoming elections.
In accordance with Articles 24 and 242 of the law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, the delegates unanimously supported the proposal to nominate Nariman Majitovich Umarov as the Adolat SDPU’s candidate for President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The congress’s participants familiarized themselves with the pre-election programme of the Adolat SDPU’s candidate for President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Those who made speeches on this issue noted that the pre-election programme of the candidate is in complete conformity with the party’s programme tasks and that it reflects such ideas and goals as the comprehensive development of the country, the strengthening of principles of justice and the supremacy of law, the maintenance of peace and calm and the creation of favourable living conditions for people.
The candidate’s pre-election programme was approved at the congress and recommended to party organizations at all levels for use in conducting pre-election propagation.
The delegates noted the need to submit documents to the Central Electoral Commission in a timely manner for the registration of the Adolat SDPU’s candidate for President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Decisions were taken on all the issues of the agenda that had been discussed.
