Vice President of Turkey visited the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism

On June 29, Vice-President of the Republic of Turkey Fuat Oktay paid an official visit to the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism.

The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the activities of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism, within the framework of the development of Uzbek-Turkish relations in the field of education and tourism.

In accordance with the mutual desire of the peoples of Turkey and Uzbekistan to develop educational cooperation as a basis for training highly qualified personnel for foreign economic relations of the two countries, having common priorities in the field of tourism development and scientific research, the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism has been maintaining close cooperation with higher educational institutions of the Republic of Turkey since 2018.

The Turkish delegation headed by Vice-President Fuat Oktay met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan-Minister of Tourism and Sports, Rector of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism Aziz Abdukhakimov.

During the meeting, the following issues were discussed:

  • Creation of specialized schools: “School of culture and heritage of the Turkic countries” and “School of restoration of historical heritage” at the “Silk Road” University;
  • Focusing on Turkic studies: the revival of Turkic linguistics, art, ethno-cultural events, intangible cultural heritage;
  • Academic exchange of students and teachers;
  • Double degree program in the following areas: “Culture”, “Religion”, “Tourism”.

The importance of holding joint events to develop cooperation in the fields of culture, science, education, healthcare and sports was also noted.

It should be noted that within the framework of the visit of Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay to Uzbekistan, the 6th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation and a business forum aimed at stimulating direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries and the formation of new industrial cooperation projects will be held.
