President meets with political parties’ leaders

On 2 February, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the leaders of the country’s political parties.
During an open dialogue, views were exchanged on enhancing the role and place of parties in the socio-political life of society, the main tasks facing them today.
The important role of political parties in the implementation of large-scale reforms in the life of the state and society, the protection of the rights and interests of citizens was noted.
In Uzbekistan, special attention is paid to the comprehensive development of regions, improving the wellbeing of the population, and reducing poverty. Many programs are being implemented that cover issues of economic and social development. Among the priorities is the development of entrepreneurship, ensuring the employment of the population. Control over the progress of this activity places great responsibility on the chambers of the Oliy Majlis and local councils of people’s deputies.
The development of social spheres, especially education and healthcare was discussed at the meeting. The importance was noted for political parties through their deputies to study social and economic problems at places, put forward proposals for their solution, as well as exercise effective parliamentary and public control.
A unanimous opinion was expressed that parties should work more widely with their electorate, especially youth, women and representatives of the older generation, to help ensure their vital interests.
The participants discussed the need for each party to actively promote its program goals in parliament, put forward legislative initiatives through their factions, and establish control over the execution of laws.
At the meeting, opinions and practical proposals were expressed regarding a deep analysis of the activities of political parties in the light of current requirements, improving and increasing the efficiency of their work.
The meeting was attended by the leaders of the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businesspeople – the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the Democratic Party “Milliy Tiklanish”, the People’s Democratic Party, the Social Democratic Party “Adolat” and the Ecological Party, the leadership of the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
