Human rights cooperation issues discussed in Kuala Lumpur

On March 2, 2020, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ravshan Usmanov met with the Chairman of Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) Othman bin Hashim, in Kuala Lumpur.
The Malaysian side was informed in detail about measures taken in Uzbekistan to reform the country’s judicial and legal sphere, ensure the rule of law, respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms, as well as implementation by the Government of the country of the recommendations of the UN Human Rights Council made following the consideration of the Third Periodic Report of the Republic of Uzbekistan within the framework of the Universal Periodic Review.
Othman bin Hashim praised the ongoing reforms in the country and expressed the interest of the Malaysian side in further development of cooperation with Uzbekistan in this area, including within the framework of international organizations.
Following the meeting, specific agreements were reached on cooperation development.
