On January 22, 2020, Chairman of Uzbekistan Exporters Association Mukhtor Umarov met with the Executive Director of Consumption Union Ten Lim, in Kuala Lumpur.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, Consumption Union develops special electronic platforms for development of e-commerce in Southeast Asia. The number of subscribers to the online platform developed by the Malaysian company is more than 10 million people.
Issues of further development of bilateral mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation were discussed during the talks, including by expanding the range and increasing the volume of exports of Uzbekistan products to the Malaysian market.
Prospects of introducing Consumption Union electronic trading floors into the country, which will allow domestic exporters to sell their products to consumers in the countries of Southeast Asia, were also considered.
Following the talks, an agreement was reached on organizing a business mission of potential Malaysian importers to Uzbekistan to consider the possibility of concluding export contracts for the supply of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Malaysia.
