Meetings at the International Furniture Fair in Kuala Lumpur

On March 8-11, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia took part in Malaysian International Furniture Fair 2019, in Kuala Lumpur, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

This fair, which has been held since 1995 under the auspices of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of this country and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, was attended by more than 500 furniture-manufacturing companies from Southeast Asia, Europe and America.

Malaysia is in the top ten of the world’s leading furniture exporters, with an export volume of about 3 billion USD in 2018. Malaysian products are exported to countries such as the United States, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Great Britain, Russia and others.

During the fair, negotiations were held for discussing issues of further developing trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as attracting know-how and advanced technologies to the furniture industry of Uzbekistan. According to their results, agreements were reached on studying the prospects for establishing cooperation in the export of high-quality textile fabrics and leather raw materials from Uzbekistan for further use in the manufacture of furniture products, including mattresses. The possibility of opening a workshop in Uzbekistan was discussed with a manufacturer of equipment for laminating furniture products. The manufacturer of finished furniture using cement coatings expressed interest in establishing cooperation with Uzbekistan enterprises on joint production of furniture with introduction of innovative solutions of a Malaysian company.
