On February 26-27, Uzbekistan delegation led by the President of the Academy of Sciences Bekzod Yuldashev was on a working visit to Belgium.
The goal is to familiarize with nuclear methods of diagnosing oncological diseases and their treatment using proton and radiation therapy, as well as discussing the issue of creation of a Center for Nuclear Medicine on the basis of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan with involvement of leading European companies.
Members of the delegation visited Proton Therapy Center in Brussels, located at University Hospital Leuven, which was established in 1425 and is on the list of the 50 best universities of the world compiled by the British newspaper the Times.
Members of the delegation also visited the production facilities of IBA, where they got acquainted with the process of producing the most advanced proton therapy systems.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the further development of cooperation in the interests of tasks outlined by the leadership of Uzbekistan for accelerated development and implementation of advanced scientific technologies and achievements, including modern methods of treating oncological diseases.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the delegation members will also visit the Radiopharmaceuticals Production and Research Centre in the city of Julich, Germany.
