Mufti from Malaysia appointed Islamic Tourism Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia
At the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur, Mufti of Perlis Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin was appointed Islamic Tourism Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia. The corresponding certificate was presented to him during the First International Forum on Ziyorat Tourism, held on February 21-23, in Bukhara.
Assoc. Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin is a popular independent Islamic preacher, writer, lecturer and Islamic consultant from Malaysia.
According to Uzbekistan MFA, in order to inform people of Malaysia about Islamic cultural values and rich spiritual-historical heritage of Uzbekistan, he regularly holds relevant thematic lectures and sermons during Friday prayers in the central mosques of Malaysia. In addition, the honorary ambassador, who has more than 1.1 million followers on Facebook, is actively promoting Uzbekistan in social networks as an attractive destination for pilgrim tourists.
Along with this, the mufti is working on formation of tourist groups to visit Uzbekistan with the obligatory inclusion of Islamic scholars of Malaysia. According to the results of his participation in the Forum held in Kuala Lumpur, it is planned to hold a workshop on “New Uzbekistan: homeland of Islamic scholars” with participation of prominent Islamic figures of Malaysia.
