The Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Netherlands held negotiations with the leadership of one of the world’s leading companies, the supplier of Meijer seed potatoes led by CEO Erika den Daas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.
The parties exchanged views on prospects for establishing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Meijer.
The sides highly appreciated the membership of Uzbekistan in the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV). The course of reforms initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in agriculture and attraction of foreign investors to this sphere aroused particular interest of foreign partners.
At the meeting, the parties noted that commissioning in the near future of the first in Central Asia plant for production of potato chips based on Dutch technologies opens up new opportunities for further expansion of production and export of value-added products.
Following the meeting, the parties reached agreement on organizing visits of Uzbekistan delegations to the Netherlands in late January-February this year to discuss specific projects. In particular, visits of members of the Association of Potato Producers of Uzbekistan are planned. The delegation will hold negotiations on establishment of a joint venture for growing seed potatoes, as well as a potato cluster in Bakhmal district of Jizzakh region.
