On January 9, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Furkat Sidikov met with the head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Uzbekistan, Senator Hidayat Ullah.

At the meeting, issues of strengthening Uzbekistan – Pakistan inter-parliamentary relations, improving the legal framework of relations, cooperation in agriculture, trade, investment, logistics and cultural interaction were discussed.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, an agreement was reached on organization in 2019 of mutual visits of parliamentarians of Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

The Pakistani side also expressed interest in sharing experience and publications in lawmaking sphere and reforming the parliamentary system.

Hidayat Ullah confirmed his readiness to cooperate in implementation of regional transport-logistics initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, primarily in construction of

Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar railway line.

The meeting was held in a fruitful and friendly atmosphere.
