Entrepreneurs are under the court’s protection

Samarkand hosted an international roundtable on “Judicial protection of business entity rights: the experience of Uzbekistan and foreign practice”.
The event, organized in cooperation with the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, UNDP, OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan, USAID and GIZ, was attended by members of the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Development Strategy Center, State Service Agency of the Ministry of Justice, Arbitration Courts Association, judges, lawyers and entrepreneurs.
At the roundtable, reports were heard on improvement of national legislation aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of legal proceedings, introduction of effective mechanisms of protecting the rights and interests of entrepreneurs, wide use of methods for resolving conflicts between entrepreneurs before the trial. Opinions of experts and specialists regarding the experience of foreign countries and international practice were heard.
Suggestions were made regarding improvement of judicial practice in resolving economic conflicts between business entities, increasing participation of lawyers in protecting the rights of entrepreneurs in courts, applying tax and customs privileges, strengthening practical actions on financial support of entrepreneurship.
At the event, participants became familiar with activities of courts of Samarkand region. They visited the sights, historical and cultural places of Samarkand city.
