The Minister for Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojayev received the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania Danut Sebastian Neculaescu.

At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues of Uzbekistan – Romania cooperation, discussed the current state and prospects for development of trade-economic relations between the two countries.

The sides supported further deepening trade-economic ties, strengthening direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries, including representatives of medium and small business. Z.Khojayev acquainted the Romanian side with reforms carried out in the country, including those aimed at liberalizing the economy.

Meetings of Intergovernmental Commission are considered by the Romanian side as an effective mechanism that serves to consider bilateral problems and jointly take measures on expanding trade-economic and investment cooperation.

As reported by the Press Service of the Ministry for Foreign Trade, the Romanian side proposed to hold the first meeting of the commission in the second half of 2019, as well as expert meetings in the first half of the next year to form the agenda of the meeting.

Another important area of cooperation that equally meets the economic interests of both countries, according to Danut Sebastian Neculaescu, is cooperation in the sphere of transport and transit. In particular, the Romanian side is actively promoting the project on creating a new transport corridor linking the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea.
