Uzbekistan athletes win 16 medals of Youth Olympic Games

The national team of Uzbekistan won 5 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze medals at the 3rd Youth Olympic Games held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 6-18.
Representatives of state and public organizations, athletes, parents of Olympians, and journalists solemnly met the athletes at Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov.
Uzbekistan athletes competed with 4 thousand peers from 206 countries. 37 Uzbekistan athletes took part in championships in 16 sports.
Judoist Jaikhunbek Nazarov, weightlifter Kumushkhon Fayzullayeva, and Gulbakhor Fayziyeva in rowing and canoeing championships, Umidjon Jalolov in freestyle wrestling, and Abdumalik Khalakov in boxing brought gold medals to the national team.
Silver medals were awarded to Ulugbek Rashidov in taekwondo championships, weightlifter Muhammadkodir Toshtemirov, Islom Abdusalomov in rowing and canoeing, Shokhida Akhmedova in women’s wrestling.
Nilufar Yermagambetova (judo), Indira Ulmasova (gymnastics, mixed), Dolera Davronova (weightlifting), Muhammadrasul Rakhimov (freestyle wrestling), Jakhongir Rakhmonov and Timur Merjanov (boxing) and Dildora Alikulova (karate) won bronze medals.
