On July 20, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
A decision on building a nuclear power plant was taken in Uzbekistan in order to increase electricity generation capacity, diversify the energy sector. Specialists with advanced knowledge are needed for implementing this high-tech project. Therefore, it is planned to open a branch of Moscow Engineering Physics Institute in Tashkent. The educational institution will be located on the territory of the Institute of Nuclear Physics.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev became familiar with relevant projects, noted the need to build educational buildings and laboratories in accordance with international standards, equip them with the latest technologies.
The Institute of Nuclear Physics is located in Ulugbek town. The Head of the state gave instruction on development of a master plan for the town.
“The town should become a scientific town. In the near future, we will transfer here other research institutes. We will create all conditions for scientists and the development of science”, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
As reported by the Press Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the President noted the need for expanding the territory of the town, constructing buildings for institutions, new housing, schools and recreation places, improving the transport links between the town and the center of the capital, construction of a station of the aboveground metro.
