Forum of Uzbek and Russian businessmen on “New horizons of cooperation” was held in Tashkent.
It was attended by representatives of companies of the two countries specializing in the spheres of trade, industry, economy, fuel and energy, electrical engineering, tourism and air transportation.
Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Adham Ikramov, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Vladimir Padalko and others noted that trade, economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia are increasingly strengthening.
Russia is one of the leading trade partners of Uzbekistan. As a result of 2016, the trade turnover between the two countries exceeded 4 billion US dollars. Uzbekistan exports natural gas, cars, chemical, textile, fruit and vegetable products and other goods to Russia. Black and nonferrous metals, wood, oil and oil products, electrical engineering, paper products and pharmaceuticals are purchased from Russia.
There are 961 enterprises in our country created with participation of Russian investments, and 569 enterprises created with participation of investors from Uzbekistan in Russia. 64 leading companies of this country opened their offices in our country.
At the forum, guests were given information about the potential of our country in the sphere of industry, agriculture, small business, tourism, activities of free economic zones, and reforms on liberalization of currency circulation.
Views were exchanged on the prospects for the development of trade and economic cooperation between businessmen of Uzbekistan and Russia. In particular, issues of developing mutual relations in the spheres of trade, investment, finance, energy and tourism, creation of new joint ventures, production of new consumer goods, and other promising branches of mutual cooperation were discussed.
At the sectional meetings held within the framework of the forum, reports were heard on “Expansion and development of mutually beneficial interregional cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation”, “Tourism as a driver of regional economic development”, “Transport and logistics in the development of interregional cooperation”.
Within the framework of the forum, an agreement on cooperation in the field of international commercial arbitration and mediation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Action Plan (“Road map”) on implementation of provisions of the Memorandum of cooperation between the Russian – Uzbek and Uzbek – Russian business councils for 2018-2019 were signed.
