Delegation of Kazakhstan’s parliament visits Samarkand

Kazakhstan’s delegation led by Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, the chairman of the Senate of the parliament of this country, arrived in Samarkand on September 25.
At Samarkand’s international airport, the visitors were met by B.Alikhanov, deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan and T.Jurayev, acting khokim (governor) of Samarkand region.
Representatives of the parliament of Kazakhstan visited the Khazrati Khizr complex. They laid flowers at the resting place of Islam Karimov, the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and paid a tribute of respect to the memory of this great statesman.
The chairman of the Senate of the parliament of Kazakhstan noted that Islam Karimov was a great politician who had displayed bravery and firmness for Uzbekistan to achieve independence and that he had served selflessly in the name of the state’s comprehensive development.
Islam Karimov’s great services were noted in strengthening the traditionally friendly relations between the Uzbek and Kazakh people and in further development of cooperation between the two countries.
The guests were given information about this complex and about large-scale construction and improvement work that had been carried out here.
Members of the delegation of Kazakhstan visited the Imam Bukhari complex. They praised work being carried out in this country to preserve the spiritual heritage of Uzbek people’s great ancestors and to widely propagate ideas of enlightenment of the holy religion of Islam.
Members of the Senate of the parliament of Kazakhstan found the Amir Temur mausoleum, the Bibi Khanum mosque and the Siab market to be really impressive.
